Ian Punnett, Economic Woes and Bloodshed
June 28 2009
Greetings my Dear Readers,
I come to you today from the land of fun and sun and what a day it was! Tourists, Show buffs, Festival enthusiasts and sun lovers of all ages litter the streets and mob our scenic beaches all drinking in the sunny paradise I call home.
But where to begin....
Punnett Speaks the Truth
As the talk shows and air waves have been all a buzz since Pedophile extraordinaire Micheal "Freak Show" Jackson passed away, everyone is going on and on and on and on and on about what a loss his death was to the music world but almost no one seems to be talking about the truth of the matter and about how a Pedophile is dead and our children are safer because of it.
Well, finally a Talk show host has had the guts to say it like it is... Thanks to a nifty little subscription service called Streamlink I was able to catch up on my late night talk shows this afternoon and had the pleasure of listening to Ian Punnett a young priest who hosts a couple different talk shows, and although Ian and I have never met and have very different life experiences we have a similar background when it comes to caring for and protecting children.
Although I have always liked Ian for his quick wit and quirky sense of humour, he won my eternal respect when he broke from the main stream crowd and gave his honest (Albeit Politically Correct) opinion both live on the air to an audience of millions then publicly on his personal Blog.
Here is Ian's Public feelings speaking about the passing of Micheal Jackson:
"Few stars of any art form are as polarizing as Michael Jackson in my opinion. As an advocate of responsible adult behavior and somebody with a certain amount of experience with victims of clever sexual abusers, I can never separate Michael Jackson the musical genius from Michael Jackson the never-criminally-convicted but civilly financially liable pedophile.
I’ve been buying his records since I was ten and will always enjoy his catalogue of hits up to the time when he started paying off kids with millions in hush-money."
A very politically correct way of expressing his views to an audience of millions but so far the only one to come out on record with views that are close to the truth.
Big Kudos to Ian Punnett for getting it said before an audience of millions in a much more politically correct and articulate manner then I would have.
I know a couple personalities that are considerably more outspoken that haven't weighed in the matter yet, but I'm sure they'll rock the boat of political correctness when they do.
Economy Woes Continue
Today on my way to work I noticed yet another big Chain store advertising a going out of business sale. This particular Chain was a Canadian owned and operated business with locations across the country who, as it turns out was forced into bankruptcy and will now close all its stores and sell off all its assets in an attempt to cover its growing debts.
The closing of this Canadian Chain will put several hundred employees out of work across the country. I find it kind of sad, but then again others may say its lucky, but a couple years ago I almost walked away from my current vocation to accept a middle management position with this now defunct Canadian company. I'm saddened to see it fail and fall by the way side, yet another victim of the faltering Global economy.
Economic Breakdown
My Daily route to work takes me through several rather nice Middle Class family neighborhoods and today being a rather exceptionally warm and pleasant day I opted to walk to work which gave me more of an opportunity to get a closer look at the city around me and I must say what I saw was rather sad.
I couldn't help but notice that many of the homes that I used to walk past everyday only a couple years ago when I walked to work on a regular basis are now looking worn. The homes are falling into disrepair and the yards are increasingly unkept, why is this you may ask? Well, these neighborhoods have pretty much the same people living in them now as they did when I moved in here, and the residents have always worked hard to maintain nice yards and homes, the reality is, many of these homes and yards are rapidly deteriorating simply because the people living there can no longer afford to spend a lot of money trying to maintain them. More and more families are struggling to survive in the face of the rising cost of living and little sustainable employment.
Although my moneyed little vacation paradise nook here has been relatively sheltered from the Global Economic Woes due to the vast amount of wealth in the general area it appears that average working class joe is starting to show the first signs economic failure.
Its no secret that Bankruptcies and Welfare claims have sky rocketed in the last 12 months and although housing costs have seen very little decline in this country, sadly its only a matter of time before we hit a breaking point and we start the downward spiral as seen in many parts of the U.S.
Look around your community and I can tell you, if you look close enough its not going to be pretty. Things are getting awfully tight for most people. The only bright spot in all this... Those who have any extra cash would be wise to hold on it and bide your time, if your patient eventually the housing bubble will really break and you'll be able to pick up beautiful homes for a fraction of their current cost. When its all over, who knows maybe housing will actually be affordable again.
More Bloodshed
Those regular readers of ColdHeartedBastard.com are familiar with my vocation and the fact that it all too often brings me face to face with some of the seediest aspects of this world and often into confrontation with the human garbage that litter the gutters of our nations streets. I have to confess things have been pretty quiet since I accepted a promotion of sorts a year or so ago, as it kind of removed me from the front lines and away from the dirt and scum I had grown so accustomed to dealing with. Well tonight, was like old times.
This evening I had the pleasure of working with a newer employee one totally unfamiliar with the often volatile and dangerous nature of our work. Today was a busy day to say in the least and as luck would have it, when we least expected or needed it the special segment of our population decided to give us a classic but over all rather mild performance. Six drunk and drugged out youth armed with nun chucks (sp?), baseball bats and clubs jumped four others and turned our evening into a blood soaked, gore filled ride of mayhem.
Overall it was rather mild when compared to many of the fun filled nights I've had here in Paradise and luckily none of my staff were injured, but we did have quite a bit of blood to clean up after.
This what I deal with and people wonder why I have a zero tolerance for drugs and for the scum that use them.
But anyway, that's enough for one night.
Until next time,
Your Cold Hearted Bastard,
D.
